The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has been postponed to October, six months after its expected schedules on 10 to 12 April and 17 to 19 April, over coronavirus concerns.
Prior to Coachella’s official statement, fans were left in limbo as they had only heard rumors it was not going through with the festival in April. During this time of uncertainty, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took the opportunity to poke fun at the event, and wrote, “Coachella should postpone itself until it stops sucking.”
Musk described that the music festival’s vibe had been “killed” since it took in “too much corporate sponsorship.” He preferred how it was “five or six years ago when you could [wander] around and find great unknown bands.”
Coachella believes it has something worth salvaging even for a naysayer like Musk, and hit back with a photo of a Tesla Model X hovering above the audience at Jaden Smith’s performance during last year’s event. “Lol,” it simply replied.
Musk was convinced, and responded, “Okay fine, that was good.”
The festival will take place over two weekend installments this October, on the ninth to 11th and 16th to 18th.
