As people around the world stay locked in to stop the spread of COVID-19, new forms of entertainment and education have sprung up to help them tide through the crisis.
Along with artworks and museums that have gone digital, filmmaker Gary Hustwit—famed for titles Helvetica, Objectified, Urbanized, and Rams—will be streaming his documentaries for free for the world to enjoy.
“In light of the COVID-19 crisis, I’ve decided to stream my films for free to viewers stuck indoors, anywhere in the world,” the director announced. “Stay safe and strong, we’re gonna get through this.”
The films will be released weekly via Oh You Pretty Things, beginning with Helvetica from 17 to 24 March.
Helvetica (2007) explores the invaluable typeface in graphic design and typography. It also features candid interviews with renowned industry leaders, who delve into how the typeface has assimilated into people’s everyday lives.
The first film has been published here for your viewing pleasure.
