Disney+ Tries To CGI Naked Butt Out Of ‘Splash’, Things Don’t Turn Out So Peachy

Because human female nudity doesn’t exist in the Disney universe, the company took great efforts to censor it out of its streaming service.
To maintain a family-friendly image, Disney+ applied its CGI skills on a scene in the 1984 film Splash, where Daryl Hannah’s naked butt can be seen for a brief moment.
The original scene, which features the main cast Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah as the mermaid Madison, shows them kissing before a bare-bottomed Hannah jumps into the sea.
Disney then extended her long hair to cover her rear behind, but the effects didn’t turn out as smooth as it intended them to be.
Internet users are amused by this half-assed attempt, which has even been likened to the haunting visual effects of the Cats movie.
“Disney+ didn’t want butts on their platform, so they edited Splash with digital fur technology,” tweets film buff Allison Pregler.
“It’s like they tried to make her hair longer and thicker, but gave her a giant shag carpet for a butt instead,” another Twitter user jokes.
Others have pointed out the apparent double standards of Disney+, as male buttocks remain uncovered in several of its streaming offerings.
The edited clip, shown below, isn’t fooling anyone, no butts about it.

In related news, did you know Ariel from The Little Mermaid wasn’t first intended to have red hair? Disney imagined her to be blonde, but didn’t want her to look too much like Daryl Hannah’s character.

_ No respect for the original creation.
_ Showing nudity as something horrible.
_ I bet male butts are still showing in other movies on the platform.
_ It's not very well done (at all). https://t.co/XZvxJwttnP
