Apple Debuts 2020 iPhone SE, With 4.7-Inch Display, Home Button & $399 Price

Apple has unveiled the iPhone SE for 2020, dubbed as the “budget” iPhone, with a starting price of US$399. The model is a significant update to the iPhone 8.
The latest iPhone SE promises a less extravagant price tag without compromising on functionality and quality.
To support people affected by the coronavirus crisis, Apple is also forwarding a portion of its proceeds from the (PRODUCT)RED iPhone SE to “provide critical support in health systems most threatened by outbreak and, in turn, help preserve lifesaving HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa.” The initiative will run until 30 September, and will include Apple’s other (PRODUCT)RED products like the iPhone 11 and XR, iPhone cases, and Apple Watch bands.
Without further ado, here is everything you need to know about the upcoming iPhone SE for 2020.
Release date and pricing

The iPhone SE is slated to go on sale officially on 24 April 2020. Preorders can be made from this Friday, 17 April 2020, at 8am EDT. The low-cost iPhone SE will be available at US$399 for 64GB, US$449 for 128GB and US$548 for 256GB.
US customers can opt for a financial plan of US$16.62 per month. You can also trade-in your iPhone 8 to get hold of the iPhone SE for US$229 or US$9.54 per month.

The iPhone SE takes on the exterior design of iPhone 8 with a 4.7-inch Retina HD Display, making it the smallest iPhone in Apple’s current lineup. Similar to the iPhone 8, the new smartphone also comes with a Touch ID button located on the bottom bezel.
Made out of sapphire crystal, the home button lets you unlock the device using your fingerprint unlike the iPhone 11 series, which utilizes Face ID. iPhone SE shares the Haptic Touch system found in iPhone XR and iPhone 11, which activates a compact menu for shortcuts.
The model features bezels, with the top holding the front-facing camera and the bottom housing the Touch ID key.
The iPhone SE will be available in three color offerings: black, white and (PRODUCT)RED, with proceeds in the latter going to COVID-19 relief.

Apple prides on its A13 Bionic chip, available in the iPhone 11 lineup, calling it the “fastest chip in a smartphone.” The iPhone SE will also run on the A13 chip for enhanced efficiency and performance, boasting speedy movements when you switch between apps, and a seamless flow when you capture moving photos and edit videos.
However, it’s worth noting that the iPhone SE can run for up to 12 hours of video playback, as opposed to the 17-hour playback promised by iPhone 11 models.
The iPhone SE supports wireless charging via a Qi charger, and as expected from earlier rumors, the iPhone SE comes with a lightning connector for charging and ditches the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Dual SIM and eSIM support offers flexibility for users who wish to use two different phone numbers; this is especially useful for business travelers or those wanting a separate phone line for work.
Lastly, iPhone SE is powered on iOS13, and comes with smart apps optimized with machine learning capabilities.
Camera

The iPhone SE includes a 12-megapixel, f/1.8 aperture wide camera, along with image signal processor and the A13 Bionic chip’s Neural Engine. Users can benefit from the smart image processor with its computational photography functions.
This includes Portrait mode and its six effect variations, as well as Depth Control, which intelligently brightens and amends shadow details by recognizing facial features.
The phone’s rear camera captures high-quality videos of up to 4K resolution at 60 fps. The A13 chipset provides cinematic video stabilization and stereo audio recording. The QuickTake video function on the front and rear cameras lets users capture video without having to leave Photo mode.
