The company has set aside US$300 million to empower newsrooms around the world. However, the funding will vary depending on the size of the organization. The initiative is open to the US and more than 20 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
The application is currently open till 29 April 2020. The eligibility requirements include an online presence, being in operation for minimum 12 months and consisting of two to one hundred full-time employees.
Google staff with digital publishing background will first narrow down the entries, and then contact successful applicants via e-mail.
