The South Korean government has provided care packages to its citizens to help ease the quarantine life.
Imgur user Uvxkwq shared a post showing a package they had received during the quarantine. Fresh fruits, vegetables, hand sanitizers and face masks were found in the care package to prevent people from leaving home to buy essentials.
A Reddit user, TheMemeChurch, told Bored Panda that he was contacted by the local government after being in close vicinity with a confirmed COVID-19 patient. TheMemeChurch was immediately tested the next day, and although the results came back negative, officials still advised the user to self-quarantine for the next 14 days.
During isolation, a dedicated caseworker would check on residents twice a day and drop off supplies that also included a note on how individuals could carefully dispose of their garbage.
There was also a letter included in the package that encouraged people not to lose hope. “For people who are currently suffering from the COVID-19 virus, we send our regards and sympathy. We are sending this ‘environmentally-friendly health package’ constructed with environment-friendly crops. We hope this helps you get energy for your daily routine. Furthermore, we hope you get well soon to return to your daily life. You can do it! Fight it! Go South Korea!” the translated message read.
Many social media users are impressed with how the South Korean government handled the situation.
“That’s some seriously cool local governance! Take care and hope everything calms down sooner than later,” one internet user commented. “I love the Korean culture, and am learning the language recently. Their response to the pandemic just makes me respect them more,” another said.
