McDonald’s Employee Reveals Real Reason Behind McFlurry’s Odd-Shaped Spoons

A McDonald’s employee has come forward to reveal what the hollow handle for the McFlurry spoon is supposedly used for.
The oddly-shaped spoon has left customers baffled for years, and many believed that its rectangular-shaped handle was supposed to be a straw. Unfortunately, they found that they couldn’t sip anything out of it as there wasn’t a hole at the bottom.
TikTik user @marzpire, who claims to be a McDonald’s employee, has cleared up this confusion with a video showing that the feature is more for workers than for customers.
In a video she demonstrated attaching the hollow part of the spoon to the McFlurry machine to show viewers that it is used to mix the ice cream and candy toppings together.
“Have you ever wondered why you can’t drink out of a McFlurry spoon?” she wrote in the caption. The clip showed her getting a closeup of the spoon’s hollow handle before she poured ice cream into the McFlurry cup. She topped it off with Oreo cookie bits and placed the spoon inside, before attaching it to the machine.
When she turned on the machine, the spoon began to spin, and she moved the cup around it to make sure the toppings were mixed well. “What the spoon is really for, to mix!” she exclaimed.
Many social media users were evidently amazed by the revelation. “Wow! I swear I’ve learnt so much off TikTok,” a TikTok user said.
