Apple Officially Announces WWDC Will Go Virtual For The First Time This June
Apple has confirmed that it will be holding the software-focused WWDC online this year on 22 June.
The company has also announced that the conference will be free to attend for all developers. To tune in to the event, developers can access it through the Apple Developer Program app or use the program’s website.
Apple decided to move the event online due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, and despite the change in format, it is expecting the keynote to be bigger than ever.
“WWDC20 will be our biggest yet, bringing together our global developer community of more than 23 million in an unprecedented way for a week in June to learn about the future of Apple platforms,” Apple’s executive Phil Schiller said.
The tech giant added that more details about the keynote, sessions, and labs will be shared in June.
In addition to unveiling more about WWDC 2020, Apple announced a new Swift Student Challenge inviting students to design and submit an interactive scene in the Swift Playground coding app. Participants with the most outstanding entries will get an “exclusive WWDC20 jacket and a pin set,” Apple said.
