IKEA Responds To Viral Video Of Woman Pleasuring Herself In Showroom In China

There’s a new eagerness to step out of the house, now that it’s been months since much of the world has been forced to stay in. However, while many might jump at the chance to complete tasks outside, some things are truly better done in the confines of your home.
And as much as IKEA’s showrooms appear to be parts of a house, they aren’t substitutes for one.
The Swedish giant was forced to apologize after a video of a woman masturbating in one of its stores in China went viral.
As reported by AFP, the uncensored footage of the half-naked woman getting crafty with herself on several beds and couches was republished multiple times on Chinese social media, but the posts were swiftly deleted. IKEA’s reply to the video, though, amassed nine million views.
“We resolutely oppose and condemn this kind of behavior, and immediately reported it to the police in the city of the suspected store,” the company addressed on Saturday. It added that it will enforce “even more careful security and public cleanliness measures.”
Patrons are also urged to “browse stores in an orderly and civilized way.”
Nor the woman nor the outlet’s location have been publicly identified, but viewers suspect the incident took place in the Guangdong province, since the dialect of the region, Cantonese, could be heard in the video via store announcements.
Since no one in the clip was wearing a mask, some deduce that it could have been recorded before China’s coronavirus lockdown.
