Twitter Turns Profile Black To Take A Stand For ‘Black Lives Matter’ Cause

Twitter is standing up for racial justice by turning its logo and cover image black on its official account.
The social network is making a tribute to the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement following the wrongful death of black Minnesota man George Floyd by the hands of Derek Chauvin, a Minneapolis police officer who held him down on chokehold and knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes.
Twitter also added the “#BlackLivesMatter” hashtag to its profile bio to show solidarity with those fighting for equality.
Its diversity-focused account, @TwitterTogether, additionally recognized how humanity has come together despite the distance forced by the COVID-19 crisis.
“Racism does not adhere to social distancing,” it tweeted. “Amid the already growing fear and uncertainty around the pandemic, this week has again brought attention to something perhaps more pervasive: the long-standing racism and injustices faced by Black and Brown people on a daily basis.”
