Rapper Kanye West has offered a US$2 million donation to support the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.
West’s contribution will help fund legal fees for the family members, as well as support vulnerable Black-owned businesses in various cities, including his native Chicago, according to CNN.
The rapper has also launched a 529 education plan to cover college tuition for Floyd’s six-year-old daughter, Gianna Floyd.
George Floyd was pinned down and killed last week by a Minneapolis cop, which sparked protests against racial injustice across the US. Arbery was killed by a gunshot while jogging outside Brunswick, GA.
Taylor was an emergency medical technician who was shot at least eight times in March by three officers, who had forced entry into her apartment in Kentucky. The FBI has now opened an investigation into her unfortunate death, offering hope to many internet users eager for a reopening of her case.
