Netflix is rebooting the longstanding Unsolved Mysteries television series on its platform. The new trailer teases real-life morbid and unexplainable cases from around the world.
The series kicked off on NBC from 1987 to 1997, and then hopped onto CBS for two more seasons, before taking off as a household program with a bunch of reruns and new episodes.
The show was then brought to life again in 2008 by Spike TV with a combination of old and new episodes. However, the Netflix version will see 12 brand-new episodes, with the first six episodes launching on 1st July 2020.
According to the service’s press release, the “12 new episodes are rooted in the experiences of ordinary people who have lived the unthinkable — from the trauma of a loved one’s unexplained disappearance or horrific death to the shock of a bizarre paranormal encounter.”
The show’s original creators, Terry Dunn Meurer and John Cosgrove, returned to produce the reboot under their Cosgrove/Meurer Productions company. The series was also co-produced by 21 Laps Entertainment, the maker of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things.
