Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine role came to an end in the 2017 film, Logan. The actor recently reflected on the emotional death scene of the beloved character with Anne Hathaway on Variety’s Actors on Actors issue.
In the film, Wolverine was slowly being poisoned by the metal in his own body, leaving him unable to regenerate his wounds effectively. His death was captured in a heart-wrenching scene where the character was impaled by a tree trunk.
“The last scene of Logan, for example, where my character is dying, I think [it’s] one of the most beautiful lines written for the character, which is, ‘Ah, so this is what it feels like,’” Jackman shared.
Though this was the end of Wolverine, fans can only hope that Marvel picks up the role again with another take to continue the character’s legacy.
