British Vogue Taps David Hockney & Other Famed Creators To Design Its New Covers

British Vogue’s August issue explores the theme of “reset” with not one, but 14 covers created by the UK’s renowned artists and photographers. One such version is David Hockney’s serene painting of a wheat field.
The theme aims to offer a glimmer of hope as the world is still in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. Each cover art presents a local landscape favored by the artist. For Hockney, this was the wheat field near Fridaythorpe in Yorkshire.
The August issue also includes an essay, titled All Across the Land, by Helen Macdonald, with the theme of “reset” in mind. Photographer Nadine Ijewere’s cover was also featured on the publication’s Instagram page, and the photo of Carbost, Isle of Skye, was shot using her iPhone camera. Take a look at both covers below.
