Elon Musk promises that his Neuralink brain chip will let you listen to music by sending it straight to your brain.
The Tesla CEO spoke about his venture involving a brain-computer technology in a slew of Twitter posts. Computer scientist Austin Howard asked Musk if users can “listen to music directly from [the Neutralink brain] chips,” and Musk simply responded with a “yes.”
Musk also stated that the device could help “control hormone levels” and improve brain functions, including “enhanced abilities and reasoning and anxiety relief.”
Another Twitter user asked if the device can help “stimulate the release of oxytocin, serotonin, and other chemicals when needed,” and Musk once again replied yes.
Neutralink was first founded in 2016, and since then, there has only been one public presentation about how the technology will work, with another in store on 28 August 2020. In the first event, Musk described the chip as a “sewing machine-like” device.
The gadget will be inserted into the brain to connect it with a computer. As terrifying as it sounds, it is hoped that the chip will first alleviate brain diseases, including Parkinson’s, and then allow humans to champion with advanced AI in the future.
“If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em,” Musk wrote in Neutralink’s mission statement, in reference to advancing AI.
