If you have always dreamt of having a piano in your home but haven’t got the space to put it, LEGO has unveiled probably the next best thing.
The toymaker has released a 3,662-piece set model of a grand piano that can produce music after assembly. The instrument features 25 playable keys, a top lid that you can propped up, a bench, moving damper and pedal.
Once you assemble it, the piano will stand at 22.5cm high and 30.5cm wide, allowing you to place it almost anywhere in the house. There is also an app available for you to download on your smartphone and auto-play songs on command, as well as help you compose and record your own music.
The initial idea of the piano was submitted by a fan, and LEGO designer Woon Tze Chee brought it to life, adding sound to the model to enhance the experience.
“This is by far the most challenging model I’ve worked on. It’s so compact and so interconnected, and every measurement so precise that if you make one small change somewhere, it always causes a ripple effect and a chain reaction to the whole model,” Chee said in a video posted by LEGO on YouTube.
The piano set can be purchased at LEGO.com for US$350.
