Quentin Tarantino’s 1930s Gangster ‘Star Trek’ Script Might Hit The Big Screen

Director Quentin Tarantino revealed back 2017 that he had written an R-rated script for the Star Trek franchise. However, nothing materialized—until now.
According to Deadline, the film might still be made without the director helming the project.
Tarantino also mentioned in January that the film might be made without his direction. “I think they might make that movie, but I just don’t think I’m going to direct it. It’s a good idea. They should definitely do it and I’ll be happy to come in and give them some notes on the first rough cut,” the director said.
Tarantino reportedly worked with The Revenant director Mark L. Smith to write the script based on A Piece of the Action, the 17th episode in the second season of Star Trek: The Original Series.
The episode takes place mostly on Earth in an1930s gangster setting, which is quintessentially the Pulp Fiction director’s forte.
Social media users are split over the potential film in headway. “Tarantino potentially making a Star Trek reboot that’s actually good is actually the best thing I’ve heard today,” one user gushed.
On the other hand, another fan stated, “I can’t believe I have to say this, but we can’t let Tarantino make an earthbound 1930s gangster Star Trek.”
