NBA Dismisses Photographer After He Shared ‘Disrespectful’ Meme Of Kamala Harris

A photographer previously working freelance for the NBA has had his contract terminated after he posted an offensive meme on Facebook that took aim at Senator Kamala Harris.
Bill Baptist, a Houston-based photographer, was dismissed from the NBA bubble in Orlando after his sharing of the controversial meme reading, “Joe and the Hoe.”
Baptist shared it on Facebook and was called out by former WNBA star Sheryl Swoopes. “So this guy works for the NBA but covers the Houston Rockets. Has been around for a while. It’s amazing how people will smile in your face but eventually their true colors will show. @NBA and Houston Rockets he needs to go! So disrespectful. Bill Baptiste shame on you,” Swoopes called him out in a Facebook post.
Baptist issued an apology to a local television station, explaining that he “deeply regretted” the post and said the meme “does not reflect my personal views at all.”
“I deeply regret posting on my Facebook page a phrase that I saw and copied from others as a sample of some people’s reactions to Biden’s selection of Senator Harris as his choice for VP. The phrase I posted does not reflect my personal views at all,” he said. “I sincerely apologize to all of those who have been rightfully been offended.”
The NBA, on the other hand, has removed Baptist, announcing that “his services are no longer being used in Orlando.”
