Due to the
coronavirus pandemic, Burger King has uncharacteristically pushed customers away as safety precautions, putting people off by
advertising drunk patrons, making “
social distancing Whoppers,” and even directing diners
to McDonald’s locations.
However, it can’t always chase customers away. Burger King Belgium now has a response for when fans really want to dine at one of its restaurants. In its latest campaign produced with creative agency
Buzzman, the chain is now giving out customized ‘Safe Order Masks’ that are one step ahead of coverings already available in the market—they help people place their orders without having to open their mouths.
Customers can personalize their face mask messages by dropping their go-to orders in Burger King’s
Facebook post, or create an Instagram story of their order typed over any mask. 500 of them will be selected to receive the protective covers with their orders printed on them.
While the idea seems a little gimmicky, it’s kind of genius. It goes without saying that everyone has a set of menu items that they always default to, so these masks will not only keep respiratory droplets from escaping, but also make ordering much more convenient and ultimately speed up lines.
The original Burger King Belgium post can be found directly below, with English translations of the sample messages available beneath.
