Aspiring Pokémon trainers who also want to be the very best drivers can look forward to a new environmentally-friendly automobile that Nintendo appears to be working on.
As uncovered by Japanese Nintendo, the gaming giant, along with Creatures Inc. and Game Freak, has filed for three trademarks that detail a Pikachu-shaped gas-free car called—wait for it—‘Pi!car!’. One of them is an application for the punning name, which sounds the same in Japanese and English, while the other two describe the vehicle’s Pikachu-shaped design.
The publication reports that the cute, futuristic and eco-friendly design is a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Toyota Motor Corporation.
The applications were categorized under ‘Vehicle’ and ‘Education and entertainment’, and were not submitted for a possible video game.
It remains to be known if this adorable monster will truly bolt across roads in the future, or if Nintendo is only intending it as a concept design.
