If Burger King’s Moldy Whopper hasn’t traumatized you into remembering that the Whopper is free of artificial preservatives, the chain has now printed another reminder on its packaging that is, thankfully, much less nauseating.
On Thursday, the fast-food giant confirmed that Whoppers everywhere in the US no longer contain colors, flavors, and preservatives from artificial sources. As a seal of quality, it has printed the Whopper’s recipe and pasted it on wrappers to reassure that the sandwich features “the Whopper and nothing but the Whopper.”
Ingredients listed on the label comprise 100-percent flame-grilled beef, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, onions and a sesame seed bun. It also stresses that the burger has “no colors, flavors or preservatives from artificial sources” nor MSG or high-fructose corn syrup.
“We put a lot of effort into the Whopper to make it taste great and the real Whopper free of colors, flavors and preservatives from artificial sources has the same iconic flame-grilled flavor that guests know and love,” explained Chris Finazzo, President of Burger King in the Americas. “This announcement further highlights our commitment to serve delicious, affordable meals our guests can feel good about.”
This means you can recreate the Whopper from home if you wish to. Burger King actually has a recipe for a ‘Quarantine Whopper’ prepared for emergencies because it’s chill like that.
Burger King reveals that 85-percent of its permanent food lineup in the US is now free of the yucky stuff, and that it hopes to completely phase out artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives by the beginning of 2021.
The chain has also recently come out as a lover of McDonald’s in an amorous pride campaign depicting mascots of both restaurants making out.
