CNN Calls Out Biden Campaign For Clip Edit Of Trump Calling COVID-19 A ‘Hoax’

Joe Biden tweeted out an ad suggesting that Donald Trump referred to COVID-19 as a “hoax.”
The 25-second advert starts with Trump speaking during a campaign rally on 28 February 2020 when he addressed “the coronavirus.” The clip then cuts to Trump saying, “and this is their new hoax.” The text on the advert reads, “Trump in public: ‘Hoax.’”
However, CNN pointed out that there were at least 56 seconds in between both clips that were missing, and they included most of the context for Trump’s statements.
Trump had called out Democrats for “politicizing the coronavirus” by attacking his administration’s performance in addressing the virus. The president then compared this attack to the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, and called his possible impeachment a “hoax.”
CNN reported that Biden’s ad had left out critical context, and “dishonestly [edited] the two soundbites together” as the two statements did not belong to each other directly.
