Zendaya has become the youngest-ever Emmy winner for the Best Lead Actress category in a Drama for her role as Rue on HBO’s Euphoria. The 24-year-old celebrated her victory via a Zoom call with her loved ones in front of the camera.
Zendaya is also the second Black woman to win the award after Viola Davis was awarded for her work in How To Get Away With Murder in 2015.
The star was in the category along with famed actresses such as Laura Linney, Jennifer Aniston, and Sandra Oh, who were also present in the conference zoom call.
Zendaya was dressed glamorously at home in a two-piece ensemble by Giorgio Armani Privé as she gave her acceptance speech.
“I just want to say thank you to the TV academy and to all of the other incredible women in this category. I admire you all so much, this is pretty crazy. I really don’t want to cry!” she said during her virtual speech.
Watch the historic moment from the 0:51 mark onwards.
