Joe Biden Pokes Fun At ‘Earpiece’ & ‘Drug’ Claims With Earphones & Ice Cream

Joe Biden clapped back at those who wondered if the “sleepy” former vice president was going to cheat at Tuesday’s presidential debate with an earpiece and performance-enhancing drugs to stay mentally alert. It appeared that he was just having a cheat day with comfort food and music.
Prior to the debate, the Democratic president-elect thought to rile up trolls by posting a photo of wired earphones and a tub of ice cream—just everyday items one might prepare for a show-binging session.
“It’s debate night, so I’ve got my earpiece and performance enhancers ready,” he joked on Twitter.
His tweet was in response to President Donald Trump’s claims that Biden had an audio device hidden in his ear during a town hall in September to help him speak coherently, something that footage has debunked.
Detractors have also speculated that “Sleepy Joe Biden” was relying on drugs to stay physically and mentally fit.
The Trump campaign had called for Biden to be tested for drugs and have his ears inspected by third-party checkers ahead of the debate.
Addressing the allegations, Biden’s deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield denounced, “Vice President Biden intends to deliver his debate answers in words. If the president thinks his best case is made in urine he can have at it.”
