Ice cream company Häagen-Dazs has found a clever way for adults to hide their ice cream tubs so family members can’t steal them.
Häagen-Dazs Australia designed a deceptive ‘Trojan Peas’ bag, which is actually a huge plastic container that can fit a large tub of ice cream inside. The concept was developed after the brand found out that 41-percent of Australians have had to keep the sweet treat away from kids or housemates.
The ‘Trojan Peas’ bags, which are available through Häagen-Dazs Australia’s Instagram page, feature bland imagery and are colored in a dull shade of green to appear unappealing to others.
Created with the help of Melbourne creative agency
Thinkerbell, the initiative has social media influencers showing how they have stashed away their ice cream. Comedian Em Rusciano also teamed up with Häagen-Dazs to demonstrate how to use the bag on Instagram.
“We believe that Häagen-Dazs is the ice cream of ice creams and therefore worthy of protection. We’re excited to be bringing the idea to life and helping Aussies savour their precious treat time,” senior brand manager Leanne Badcock said.
Speaking about the design, Thinkerbell chief creative thinker Ben Couzens said the bags are “specially designed with ugly colors and dull branding to ensure that no kid, partner, or housemate would ever want to look inside.”
“Okay, it’s really just a boring bag of peas, but that’s the point,” Couzens added.
