PORTL Hologram wants to switch how people communicate with each other amid the coronavirus pandemic. Since in-person interactions are strongly discouraged nowadays, you can now interact with others through a hologram version of yourself.
The new technology is priced at US$60,000 apiece. It is able to project a 3D image of your likeness to anywhere in the world in real-time. You can also pre-record content for various uses.
The system is the same one used for the iconic Tupac performance at Coachella in 2012. However, it now has several upgrades to make the experience more immersive for the viewer.
Users will enter the portal-like booth, which will then project their virtual variants to wherever they like. From there, they can communicate with their audience through a camera built in the structure.
With this “portal,” people can see, hear, and speak directly while appearing to be at a location without actually being present.
