LG’s Wearable Air Purifier Promising All-Day Clean Air Is Rolling Out Globally

As a breath of fresh air to everyday face masks, LG announced back in September that it was launching a “wearable air purifier” that generates “personal clean air” on the go.
It looks like it won’t be long before consumers can get hold of the rechargeable battery-operated face covering. The South Korean electronics company confirmed on Wednesday that the LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier is well on its way to becoming available globally, with its initial rollouts set for key regions like Asia and the Middle East, among others.
The gadget is built with H13 HEPA filters, similar to the ones used in LG’s own air purifiers. This blocks up to 99.95-percent of “harmful airborne matter such as viruses, bacteria and common allergens” from reaching the respiratory system, the company describes in a press release.
The face cover features dual fans and a respiratory sensor that recognizes the wearer’s breathing cycle and volume, and then prompts the fans to adjust their speeds accordingly. The fans accelerate when the person inhales and slow down when he or she breathes out.
The essentially high-tech mask is said to be able to run for eight hours on low speed and two hours on high speed.
It’s also been developed to properly fit most adult faces, following “extensive ergonomic facial analysis,” remaining comfortable for long periods of wear, and reducing air leakage at the nose and chin areas.
Finally, LG says the device is easy to clean, thanks to its removable or replaceable filters, inner layer, face guard, ear straps and strap extenders. Its accompanying case comes equipped with a proprietary ‘UVnano’ sanitization technology that kills 99.99-percent of harmful germs within 30 minutes.
LG has affirmed releases for Asia and the Middle East, but hasn’t offered a gauge for when the wearable air purifier might be made available in other parts of the world.
