As Americans await the results for the 2020 Elections, one of the biggest US homegrown fashion companies, Gap decided to drop a questionable hoodie design intended to unite the citizens during the intense period.
Gap unveiled the design created by combining two other hoodies in red and blue colors to rally solidarity among Republican and Democratic groups. Predictably, many weren’t pleased with the stunt as Twitter users began berating the company for the product.
“Thanks @Gap, I’m gonna wear this on the battlefield in the civil war to symbolize how we should all be getting along better,” one user mocked.
There were also other users who pointed out the appearance of the outerwear. “Would it kill you to make the A’s line up,” one user expressed.
The post has now been deleted due to the backlash, and it turns out that the product wasn’t actually up for sale according to New York Times reporter Sapna Maheswari.
“Gap has now deleted this tweet. A spokesperson told me that it was not a real hoodie for sale,” Maheswari wrote on Twitter.
