Apple’s new feature in its latest iOS 14.2 software update lets users know where other people are in relation to them, which is incredible handy during a time when everyone should be social distancing.
The accessibility feature in the Magnifier app comes alive thanks to Apple’s augmented reality (AR) platform, the ARKit, and the LiDAR scanner in the latest iPhone 12 Pro models.
The LiDAR scanner measures the distance of the surrounding objects. ARKit, on the other hand, now introduces a feature called ‘people occlusion’ that detects the shape of people. When both sets of data are collected, they provide an accurate distance between you and surrounding people, helping you maintain the recommended six-foot distance.
To use this feature, simply turn on your Accessibility menu in your settings, and you will be presented with an app shortcut on your home screen. Just fire up the app and turn on the people detection mode.
There's a feature called 'Back Tap' in iOS 14 Accessibility settings that lets you tap the back of your iPhone to perform a range of things you can select - Open an app,Siri, screenshot, etc🤯. Works with a cover on too.
