Nordic health company Terveystalo has teamed up with TBWA\Helsinki to turn billboards into disinfectant terminals.
These billboards are located in Helsinki and Turku in southern Finland, and they feature a small hatch where you can place your smartphones for cleaning. The panels use UVC light to clean your phones within 15 seconds.
Exposure to UVC light can be damaging to the skin and can also cause loss of sight, so Terveystalo ensures that the UVC light will only turn on when the hatch is closed, prioritizing the safety of the public.
“The project is a reminder for people to take care of all aspects of their health, and billboards are a great way to spread this important message,” Terveystalo’s marketing and communications director Veera Siivonen said.
According to Terveystalo, disinfection solutions for smartphones usually require 15 minutes of UVC exposure to clean the smartphones. Now, thanks to hospital-grade technology, it is able to thoroughly disinfect your phone in 15 seconds.
Terveystalo hopes that this simple yet useful solution set up in public spaces can prevent the spread of coronavirus. It is currently working on a standalone disinfectant unit to display in public spaces.
