Apple has been releasing short videos demonstrating ways to DIY cool visuals for years, but now, these at-home tutorials are more embraced than ever.
Its latest how-to from the ongoing Experiments series doesn’t disappoint. Entitled Everyday Experiments, the four-minute clip reveals how iPhone 12 users can create abstract videos—à la Apple’s abstract marketing imagery—using objects they probably already have at home or can acquire easily. These include party balloons, paper clips, baby oil and food dye.
Demonstrated by Dong Hoon Jun and James Thornton from creative technology firm Incite Design Studio, the video teaches you to create clips of colorful blobs bouncing around the screen using water-filled balloons, colored paper and the slo-mo mode; perfect “psychedelic liquid formations” with water, food dye, baby oil, and the iPhone 12’s macro photography prowess along with Dolby Vision compatibility; and fashion cool “sculptures” of glow sticks and string lights with the iPhone 12’s night mode and timelapse features.
The tutorial invites users to “get creative at home,” offering suggestions to kill boredom during the COVID-19 pandemic.
