With all the clutter from 2020, people are feeling more called to nature than ever before. After looking at extensive image download data, royalty-free content platform Shutterstock foresees that this appreciation for Mother Earth will grow in the coming year.
Shutterstock has analyzed pixel and image data from 2020’s most popular downloads to identify the three fastest-growing colors expected to blossom in 2021. The up-and-coming hues, ‘Set Sail Champagne’, ‘Fortuna Gold’, and ‘Tidewater Green’, indicate an intrigue with rich and optimistic colors in nature that symbolize hope and opportunity.
“For years, brands and agencies have used bold colors to stand out in a crowded content landscape; however, 2020 has forced creatives to be more purposeful in their strategies,” explained Flo Lau, Creative Director at Shutterstock. “We see them turning to optimistic colors that inspire a sense of hope—a sense that positive change is coming.”
“They’re leaving behind the bright, saturated hues that defined 2020 and moving towards 2021 with a rich, natural palette that speaks to new opportunities, and more simply, a desire to get outside and get away,” Lau continued.
Get acquainted with the rising hues for 2021 below, and check out Shutterstock’s 2021 color trend report to find out more.
Set Sail Champagne (#FAEBD7)
The elegant ‘Set Sail Champagne’ is described as a “soft, glowing tint of white” that symbolizes the desire for a new journey.
Fortuna Gold (#DAA520)
The deep ‘Fortuna Gold’ offers hope for “happy coincidences” to be found in life’s moments.
Tidewater Green (#2F4F4F)
The intense ‘Tidewater Green’, a teal with whispers of yellow and blue, signals the constant course of change much like the “ebb and flow of ocean tides.”
