The coronavirus pandemic has forced many gyms to close temporarily. Not everyone has gym equipment at home due to the constraint of space. But what if you could get your daily workout done without ever having to leave your bed?
Meet Pivot, a bed that has an entire gym underneath it all. Designed by Colin Montgomery, the Pivot Bed includes the mattress and a set of workout equipment when you flip it up. The bed gives people the opportunity to keep fit despite living in small spaces.
Montgomery said that the idea came when he had to stop exercising at home because he did not have the space. After a few sketches, the Pivot Bed was born.
The bed features the standard mattress, the pull-bars, weights and a gym mat. Due to its strong struts, you can easily switch between the bed and the apparatus within seconds.
The bed also has a power rack module, which you can install at the bottom of the bed frame if you fancy strength training. There is also space for an exercise bike or even the rowing machine.
“Pivot was created to help you achieve your fitness goals at home, whatever your space,” said Montgomery’s business partner, David Middlemiss.
“Because of the pandemic we’ve all had months of being cooped up in small spaces, trying to work with the added demands of kids and home-schooling. It’s stressful, and we know we need exercise to balance all of this out. We believe this bed will really help people to care for their physical and mental health,” another partner, Robin Feeley explained.
The bed is on Kickstarter mode, and you can find out more about it here.
