McDonald’s Spain has launched a new burger to shine a light on farmers who have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Dubbed the Big Good burger, the menu item uses seven ingredients that were sourced from various regions in Spain. The agricultural and livestock producers who harvest them have been especially struck by the COVID-19 crisis.
The Big Good burger features Extremaduran beef sourced from Toledo, semi-cured cheese from Madrid-based company Entrepinares, and Batavia lettuce from Navarra and Murcia.
The tomato and onion are obtained from Florette, while the bread ingredients of wheat flours, rye, and spelt are from
Castile and León, Catalonia, and Madrid. The sauce on the burger is made with olive oil and tomato from Las Vegas del Guadiana.
Sales from the burgers, which were conceived in a campaign with TBWA/Spain, will benefit over 2000 Spanish farmers who have been impacted by the crisis, the fast-food chain notes. They will be available in all McDonald’s outlets in Spain.
