TikTok’s New Design Obsession Are Easy DIY Rugs That Brighten Up Your Home

Carpeting is so passé, but one cool way to bring patterns to your home is to use statement rugs, and the good news is they’re pretty easy to make on your own.
It turns out that TikTok users are in love with DIY rugs right now, and many of them—from sneakerheads to pop culture fans, abstract design enthusiasts and the brand-conscious—are channeling their individuality into an activity called rug tufting.
Rug tufting involves sewing yarn onto a fabric with a punch needle or tufting gun, as well as tufting cloth and yarn. It’s also a pretty passive pastime which can be done while you catch up on your favorite flick.
