Recently, IKEA shared some free templates to craft your own mini gingerbread furniture. If you’d like a suitably gorgeous house to fill the chairs and shelves with, Epicurious has a recipe and guide to help you build one.
The stunning ‘Mid-Century Modern Cookie House’ was created by food stylist Judy Kim, and you can DIY your own too with her PDF assembly guide.
Kim starts out with some delicious cardamom cookies, and then adorns them with a frosty roof, pretzel stick-window panes, fairy lights, and garage stone walls made from sliced almonds.
She chose a soft winter palette of “teal, celadon, and white,” inspired by Wes Anderson’s monochromatic color choices. The filmmaker’s influence is most evident in the “matchy-matchy bedroom wallpaper” crafted from old-fashioned green candy apple sticks, though candy canes work great too.
Don’t let the instructions limit your creativity, though. The house’s minimal color scheme only means you can explore with your favorite hues and create a home perfect for the gingerbread people in your headcanon.
