What Apple Users Can Expect From 2021’s iPhone 13 Lineup—No Ports?

Some time in the future, you won’t be feeling around your bag for your iPhone charging cable and kicking yourself for not bringing it out. That’s because you’ll probably need something else: a wireless charger.
For the most part, tech insiders’ predictions for the 2021 iPhone lineup aren’t that interesting. The iPhone 13 models are anticipated to follow the sizes of the iPhone 12 series, and will feature some improvements.
The most compelling change, currently, is a supposed portless design for at least one of the iPhones. As you might have noticed, Apple has been gingerly attempting to nurture the concept of wireless charging into users’ minds. iPhones 8 and newer have been equipped with support for this technology, and most recently, 2020 saw the release of MagSafe casings and wallets.
2021 is when Apple is expected to start phasing out the Lightning port, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who in 2019 described a possibly “completely wireless experience” to arrive in the second half of the year. This points to at least one iPhone 13 model that has sole charging compatibility with Qi or MagSafe devices.
Another noteworthy feature to look out for is a dual-biometric system where both Face ID and Touch ID are possible. Seeing as how there’ll be no home button, Kuo suggested that fingerprints will be analyzed under the iPhone display. It’s not so clear if this technology will be introduced in 2021, however.
Renowned leaker Ice Universe also believes the iPhone 13 series will sport a notch that’s shallower so it won’t be as distracting. Rather than a horizontally slimmer notch, the leaker foresees a “shorter” one.
Elsewhere, iPhone owners can once again expect the same sizes for the four rumored models. Two will measure at 6.1 inches, while there will be a 5.4-inch variant and 6.7-inch version. Two of the iPhones will be ‘Pro’ models.
In terms of performance, the iPhones will apparently feature more fluid 120Hz ‘ProMotion’ displays, an A15 chip, and an upgraded 5G Qualcomm chip.
Camera improvements include a potential extension of iPhone 12 Pro Max’s larger sensor to other iPhones, as well as enhancements to the ultra-wide-angle lenses.
