Doritos Mexico has released a two-minute-plus spot titled The Best Gift.
The advertisement, created by Slap Buenos Aires and directed by Primo Mexico’s Nico Veiga, shows a divorced father addressing his son’s sexuality. Based on a real story, the spot depicts how he asked for help on Reddit to find out an appropriate way to talk to his son, who had just come out.
Doritos Rainbow has been using its platform to support the LGBTQ+ community and their families since its first edition in 2016. So far, it has raised donations and conducted workshops that provide guidance as well as moral support to LGBTQ+ individuals.
The company aims to continue its diversity platform over the course of 2021, by starting it off with this campaign. Doritos found itself starting the ‘#PrideAllYear’ campaign through the stories that were shared by its consumers.
“We’re really proud of the accomplishments that have been achieved with Doritos Rainbow.” Eduardo Córdoba, marketing director at Doritos Mexico, said. “We believe the moment is right to show that our commitment extends beyond a proud celebration every June.”
