IKEA has scooped up a number of unexpected collaborators thus far, but its
partnership with ASUS makes total sense. In hopes of delivering its “life at home” promise to gamers—a large community of people who spend a lot of their time indoors—the self-proclaimed “beginner in the gaming world” has joined hands with the ergonomics expert to bring ease to their day-to-day lives.
Since announcing the tie-up in September 2020, IKEA
has released the first items of its gaming furniture and home item range with ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) in China, and by the looks of it, each piece seems to be immaculately designed for comfort and convenience. With the new desks, chairs, storage units, accessories, and more, users can easily reach their snacks and other items while focusing on their video games without the strain on their eyes or backs.
Among the collection are a gaming desk and chair, which both feature mesh for air and temperature regulation.

The desk, priced at ¥599 (US$93), has six adjustable heights and offers ample space to hold your display, keeping it at a comfortable distance to protect your eyesight.

Meanwhile, the adjustable gaming chair, which bears a price tag of ¥999 (US$155), tilts in sync with your body movements to provide support and relief.

What’s an IKEA solution without storage ideas? The collaboration includes
drawers on castors, offering “a perfect side-kick that takes care of your gear so you can focus on what’s important – winning games.” There’s an easily reachable top to grab your snacks from, compartments for both small and bulky items, a cable management slot, and a hook for headsets.

It’s clear by the fast and impressive progress of gaming graphics that gamers care about visuals, too. With a new
glass-door cabinet (¥499 or US$77), they can proudly showcase their prized figurines while safeguarding them from dust. As well as keeping dust at bay, the pegboard panels invite users to “hack” the cabinet with lighting strips for some cool illumination.

Also worth mentioning is the ¥49 (US$7.60) mug holder for gamers, encouraging players to hydrate as they combat monsters. The holder is clamped onto the side of their desk, eliminating the risk of splashes.

It remains unclear when the gaming homeware range will become available in other parts of the world, so stay tuned.
