Popeyes has decided to take advantage of McDonald’s tricky domain name in the latest crispy sandwich fight.
McDonald’s teased fans with a preview of its upcoming Crispy Chicken sandwich on a special website: chkndrop.com. For US$5, consumers were promised an early taste of the new menu item, a custom hoodie, and vinyl record featuring a sandwich-themed soundtrack by producer Tay Keith.
Popeyes, however, thought that the URL was hard to spell. So it bought 50 most likely ways to misspell the site from clumsy typing.
The first 10,000 consumers to land on these sites will get a code to redeem for Popeyes free chicken sandwich.
