Japanese pottery brand Marumo Takagi has released serving ware that changes color when a liquid is poured into it.
The delightful array of color-changing plates and cups are called Reikan Fujisan, or Cold Mt. Fuji. A sakura tree stands in the foreground of the pieces, while an illustration of Mount Fuji and a red sun are featured at the back. A crane soars through the blazing sun and a silhouette of a pagoda is printed on the right side.
The trees blossom when cold water is poured into tumbler glasses, sake cups, and bowls, reminding of pink flower petals during cherry blossom season in Japan. The graphic of Mount Fuji also exudes a chilly blue tone on its peaks and crevices when it touches the cold water.
The beautiful serveware is available for sale on Marumo Takagi’s website, but only 223 sets are available.
