If you thought including an expletive in your passwords would make you “different” and edgy, take a seat. In Sweden, cuss words are apparently three out of 25 of the most common, and hence most vulnerable, passwords. So don’t let “s**t” hit the fan or your online accounts.
A humorous campaign produced by creative communication agency
Åkestam Holst for cybersecurity firm Scutum Security First (SSF) brings some of the most alarming yet common passwords, according to research from the
Swedish Internet Foundation, to billboards around Sweden.
In case you’re wondering, the Swedish words for “f**king,” “s**t,” and “d**k,” are reported to be the third, 16th, and 24th most generic passwords in the country. Topping the list is “123456.”
The passwords are slipped into cheeky messages urging onlookers to keep their accounts secure. These include, “Your password is s**t,” “f**king isn’t safe,” and “d**k isn’t hard enough.”
And don’t think you can fall back on Mom if things go awry online, because that password’s on the list, too.
