Those who need a cuddle during the pandemic might be delighted to know that IKEA has introduced some adorable friends to its growing collection of drawing-inspired plushies.
Each year, the Swedish furniture retailer invites kids from around the world to get in touch with their imaginations and illustrate “the soft toys of their dreams.” The selected drawings are transformed into actual soft toys to join its SAGOSKATT range, whose name translates to mean mythical treasure.
IKEA raked in 66,000 illustrations at the latest edition of its Soft Toy Drawing Competition. However, it had to whittle the submissions down to just five.
The winning artworks, now brought to the 3D world as charming soft toys, comprise hand-holding bread slices, a striped blue cat, a smiley fried egg, a mermaid dog, and a bird with its tongue out.
100 percent of sales from the limited-edition SAGOSKATT range will be donated to “support local initiatives that promote children’s right to play,” IKEA noted in a press release.
