Predictions about the future can be hilariously off, but Archie Comics seems to have hit the nail on the head with a cartoon envisioning an era where everything can be done at home.

The comic from Betty #46, released in February 1997, is aptly titled Betty in High School 2021 A.D. It starts off with Betty Cooper having her breakfast and running late for class, which starts in 30 seconds. “Relax,” she assures her mother.

The reader later realizes why Betty has been so nonchalant about not making it in time for school. Her lessons are hosted online, and she just needs to be seated in front of her computer.

While the characters’ outfits and the flying vehicles outside are a little too Jetsons-esque, the comic does also nail boomer envy down pat, as Betty’s father declares, “Kids today are so lucky! They’re able to go to school in their own home!”
