Your coffee preferences may reveal more about your personality than you think, according to new research.
A study conducted by One Poll and commissioned by Califia Farms was carried out on 2,000 American coffee drinkers, comparing the lifestyles of hot coffee drinkers and cold coffee lovers.
Results showed that those who sip on cold brew and iced coffee are more likely to be part of the Gen-Z crowd (40 percent). These drinkers prefer sunny weather (40 percent) and love science-fiction shows (37 percent).
Hot coffee drinkers, on the other hand, are more likely to be extroverts (40 percent) and enjoy comedy shows. They prefer overcast weather (36 percent) and have a soft spot for Taylor Swift. These people are usually boomers, with 94 percent of them being over the age of 56.
The ingredients found in coffee also seem to show a correlation to the hot or cold coffee preference. 38 percent of iced coffee drinkers prefer plant-based milk—almond milk (39 percent) and oat milk (34 percent)—while 37 percent of hot coffee drinkers prefer heavy cream.
Responders who prefer plant-based milk said they love the flavor, functional ingredients, and low sugar content.
Overall, 59 percent of the respondents stated that their coffee habits have been disrupted by the pandemic.
With the COVID-19 crisis, more cold coffee drinkers reported to experience cabin fever as compared to hot coffee drinkers.
Before the pandemic, cold coffee drinkers would travel an average of three times in a year, while those who prefer a hot cup of joe would travel twice a year.
The study also found that cold coffee drinkers are more inclined to spend their time browsing Instagram (27 percent) while their hot coffee counterparts are more active on Facebook (35 percent).
