Nickelodeon has pulled two episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants due to potentially inappropriate content.
One episode from the 12th season, titled Kwarantined Crab, centered on a virus storyline.
It depicted a health inspector coming into the Krusty Krab and discovering a case of ‘Clam Flu’ in the eatery. Patrons had to be quarantined, and they grew anxious. Those who had apparently contracted the virus were tossed into a freezer.
“We decided to not air it due to sensitives surrounding global, real-world pandemic,” a spokesperson for Nickelodeon told Deadline.
Another episode, titled Mid-Life Crustacean, has also been pulled off air. In the episode, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Mr Krabs broke into a woman’s house to steal her underwear. “We determined some story elements were not kid-appropriate,” the spokesperson said.
These two episodes are no longer available on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime. The rest of the episodes are still available to stream.
