Apple’s Find My app has been expanded to allow third-party products to use the finding capabilities of the Find My network. Now, you’ll be able to track non-Apple products utilizing the service, including items from Belkin, Chipolo, and VanMoof.
As per Apple’s press release, all third-party products making use of the Find My network have to adhere to all privacy protections currently enjoyed by Apple customers.

In the event you don’t retrieve your item, you can set it to “Lost Mode”, and be notified when it’s found or leave a note with your e-mail address and phone number. When someone with the Find My app comes across your lost item, they’ll be able to view your note.
The Find My network is also extending to devices that can’t connect to the internet. By crowdsourcing Apple devices that use wireless Bluetooth connectivity, the app can now detect missing items nearby and report their approximate location to the owner. Plus, the entire process is encrypted end-to-end to ensure privacy.
