Adobe is often at the receiving end of complaints about its pricing decisions, but there’s little users can do about it considering that its software is the industry’s choice for creative apps. Nonetheless, the gripes about its subscription model aren’t stopping.
A complaint gone viral on Twitter propels a reality that’s been kept a secret for years: that many have been pirating older-version Creative Cloud apps due to the suite’s premium fees. The user who sounded out Adobe’s plans shared screenshots showing that he had been charged A$291.45 (US$224) for trying to cancel his plan.

Others commented that they had faced a similar plight, and some even stated that this made it “morally correct” to download illegal Adobe software.
Of course, piracy is highly discouraged, as you won’t know what’s lurking in those programs until it’s too late.
Some users who have successfully called it quits with the creative suite have shared their solution for doing it for free. They recommend switching plans first, and then canceling that subscription, since you’d be on a new trial period with the new plan.

Ah, I see Adobe is trending for absurd subscription fees. I thought this would be problematic back in 2014. pic.twitter.com/kM58I5i7HA

Watching people pirate older adobe versions and using viable alternatives instead of shoveling money over to a billionaire corp like adobe pic.twitter.com/9ec64zEOWR

It costs me €88 to cancel my Adobe subscription that I didn't even want nor need in the first place.

Pirate your Adobe products. pic.twitter.com/TTyhKXiShE
I will continue to steal from Adobe for as long as I live

PSA: do not install pirated versions of their software on the same computer where you’ve previously installed creative cloud products. Their snitch software hides on your machine, is not removed by uninstalling CC, and WILL brick the pirated version.

Spread the knowledge far and wide that if you need to cancel an Adobe plan, switch plans first (free) then you can cancel for free since you’re technically within the first week of that new plan

Since Adobe is trending, here’s how I escaped the £££ cancellation fee:

Change plan > choose cheapest plan > wait to update > cancel > since the plan is now within the 14 day trial period, you can cancel for free. (Pls don’t come for me Adobe)
