It’s almost mid-2021, and it looks like virtual events are here to stay. To bring concert vibes indoors, Spotify has taken steps to connect listeners with their favorite artists alongside its new virtual events partners.
Now, users can attend events directly from Spotify on mobile or desktop. Although the music streaming platform isn’t selling the tickets directly, it will recommend events to users based on their location and listening habits. It will also allow users to access back catalogs of partnering platforms

According to Input, Spotify users can access the catalog of virtual events through the app’s ‘Concert’ tab. You’ll be able to see various artists under the ‘On Tour’ section. The app’s algorithm will offer specific recommendations to you according to your tastes.
However, the company’s remuneration model has been called into question. As per the
Consequence of Sound, some artists are currently being paid as little as US$0.00038 per stream. It is hoped that artists in virtual event partnerships will be compensated more fairly, especially in the time of COVID-19.
