Instagram is at long last introducing a tool that could protect you from harassment in your inbox. The social media platform will “automatically filter DM requests containing offensive words, phrases, and emojis, so you never have to see them.”
Instagram noted that you will have the option to “turn both comment and DM request filters on and off in a new dedicated section of your Privacy Settings called Hidden Words.”
You can now also create a list of words, phrases, and emojis that you do not wish to see in these texts. Messages that contain such terms will automatically be placed into a separate hidden requests folder. The message will only be revealed when you tap on it. You can then decide if you wish to delete it or report the message.
Another feature that the platform is rolling out is the ability to prevent the user, which has been blocked previously, to reach out to you by using a new account.
The new functions will only be available in certain countries. According to Instagram, it will take months for the new feature to be available globally.
